Position

Maria is a partner in Plesner’s Energy and Infrastructure team. She has been involved in a wide range of energy and infrastructure matters (M&A, JVs, projects and regulatory) involving both conventional energy (oil and gas), new energy sources (biogas, solar, geothermal), and district heating.

Maria advises on transactions, project development, commercial contracts, offtake agreements, and regulatory matters.

She has worked for a broad range of large international and national energy companies, project developers, PE funds, and sponsors in both Denmark and internationally.

Maria holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Copenhagen. Maria is chairperson of the Association of Danish Law Firm’s Special Committee on Climate. She has extensive lecturing experience, including from the board leadership training program at CBS – Copenhagen Business School and as an external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen.

Almost all the matters in which Maria is involved require a multi-disciplinary team approach and project leadership. She and the team are continuously sought by clients for their ability to provide a clear set of priorities, clear communication, and a deep commercial understanding of clients’ requirements.

Plesner is highly regarded for the depth of its expertise in large projects and transactions within the energy sector, especially those involving the newest renewable energy technologies. The practice group is led by the ‘exceptional’ Niklas Korsgaard Christensen, who specialises in large offshore oil and gas infrastructure development projects, energy transactions, power-to-x projects as well as dispute resolution in the energy sector. Esben Kjær is a key adviser for international investors and national developers on wind, project development, and M&A deals; while Kristoffer Thorborg regularly acts in construction-related litigation and arbitration proceedings.
