Position

Niklas is a partner in Plesner’s Energy and Infrastructure team. He has been involved in a wide range of energy and infrastructure matters (projects, regulatory and transactions) involving both conventional energy (oil and gas); new energy sources (PV, wind (on/offshore), hydrogen, geothermal, biomass and hydro) and transportation infrastructure (rail, bridges, tunnels, ports).

Niklas advises on e.g. project development contracts, regulatory matters, offtake contracts (PPAs, GSAs, HOCs), transaction documentation. Niklas also has extensive experience with larger construction projects and disputes. He has worked for a broad range of large international and national energy companies, project developers, PE funds and sponsors in both Denmark and internationally.

Niklas holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Copenhagen and New York University School of Law. Niklas also holds a Master of Business Administration from Cambridge University (with distinction). He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Denmark and a certified arbitrator. Niklas is currently the Managing Partner of Plesner and a member of Plesner’s Board of Directors. In addition, Niklas has published a wide range of articles and books on energy and infrastructure matters.

Niklas Korsgaard Christensen has extensive experience on major transportation projects, as well as in the harbour sector. He co-leads the practice in conjunction with Esben Kjær and Peter Fogh: Kjær is a go-to name in the public transport sector, whilst Fogh has vast experience regarding international shipping-related contracts concerning new building projects, ship financing and other types of financing.

Plesner’s large-scale real estate and construction group continues to be involved in high-end, complex and cross-border mandates on behalf of a client base that counts large investment funds, international corporates and Danish pension funds. On the real estate side, the group is known for its expertise in high-value transactions, social housing and assisted living facilities matters, and asset management work. In terms of construction mandates, the group plays a significant role throughout the entire lifecycle of major infrastructure projects in Denmark; construction team leader Niklas Korsgaard Christensen is the key name for such matters, spearheading the group’s work in the space.
