Career

The main focus of Martin’s practice currently lies in the area of intellectual property as he leads DPC's prominent IP practice, but he is also adept in arbitration, personal data protection, employment and pharma regulations. Among the clients regularly seeking his advice on GDPR compliance matters are Pfizer, CEZ Group, international media company, Mareshki Group, Telenor Bulgaria, innovative startups such as LucidLink and Modralog.

He is author of three monographs on GDPR and ICT law (including the first monograph on the topic in Bulgaria), one student book on regime of information and more than 50 articles, book chapters and analysis on privacy & ICT, employment, commercial and dispute resolution matters. Martin’s book Data Protection in Commercial Arbitration: In the Light of GDPR was ranked number 6 in the prestigious ranking 29 Best New GDPR Books To Read In 2020, 11 Best New GDPR Books To Read In 2021 and included in the 64 Best GDPR Books of All Time by BookAuthority.org - the world's leading site for nonfiction book. For the last two years he has been among the contributors to Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration, published by Manz.

Martin is a university lecturer at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and the Sofia University in various disciplines related to privacy & data protection, regime of information, ICT law and basics of law. He is a guest lecturer on Privacy & Data Protection at the Stockholm University, the American University in Bulgaria, the Technical University, Sofia, and the University of Plovdiv Paisii Hilendarski.

He is a Trademark and Design Attorney at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as a European Trademark and Design Attorney.
