CEE: Schoenherr named CEE M&A Legal Adviser of the Year by Mergermarket

Schoenherr won the CEE M&A Legal Adviser of the Year award presented by Mergermarket at the European M&A Awards Gala on 28 November 2023.

In conferring this distinction, Mergermarket, a leading business intelligence provider, acknowledges Schoenherr's exceptional M&A performance across the CEE region. The accolade coincides with the firm's number-one rankings in Mergermarket's league tables, continuing a decade-long history of outstanding results.

"We appreciate having our seamless cross-border work on some of this year´s most impactful deals in CEE commended by Mergermarket," said Alexandra Doytchinova, co-head of Schoenherr's M&A practice. Co-head Roman Perner added: "This distinction stands for the exceptional work of our Corporate/M&A teams across CEE over the past year and recognises our consistently increasing strength in the region." Together with CEE colleagues, they accepted the award on the firm's behalf at Mergermarket's London ceremony.

Noteworthy CEE M&A transactions that Schoenherr advised on during the reference period include Emirates Telecommunications Group's acquisition of a controlling stake in PPF Telecom Group's assets, Carrier's acquisition of Viessmann Climate Solutions and Refrigeration, cargo-partner Group Holding AG and its subsidiaries' sale of substantially the entire cargo-partner Group, and GfK SE's sale of its European consumer panel business (GfK CP) to YouGov PLC.

Prominent awards for leading M&A advisors

The Mergermarket European M&A Awards commend advisors who have played leading roles in transactions in Europe over the past year. Firms are shortlisted for these awards based on Mergermarket league table analysis, with only the top firms by deal volume and value being selected. The winners are determined by a panel of judges consisting of board members from leading banks and investment firms, as well as prominent academics and lawyers, who rigorously screen the firms' highlight deals for legal complexity and calibre.
