Regulatory and Compliance

Eleftheria qualified as a lawyer in 2012, after completing 12 months of pupillage, and became a member of the Cyprus Bar Association.

Eleftheria is a Senior Manager at Hadjianastassiou, Ioannides LLC (member of the Deloitte Legal network) and specialises in EU financial markets regulation. Eleftheria holds an LLB from the University of Sheffield and an LLM from the University of Vienna. She advises clients on regulatory compliance, authorisation procedures, corporate governance, AML and corporate law matters.

Before joining Deloitte Legal, Eleftheria worked at the Legal Department of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Committee (CySEC) for 7 years where she was involved with the drafting of national legislation, transpositions of EU Directives, she represented CySEC in various meetings with Parliamentary Committees, Ministries and EU bodies and offered her expert opinion on legal and policy matters. Her main areas of focus were MiFID, AML, AIFM/AIFs and UCITS MC/UCITS. She was also involved in the drafting of various non-CySEC legislation, where the expert opinion of the CySEC was required, for example the drafting of the Credit Acquiring Companies Law, the Securitisation Law, amendments to the Companies Law, and other.

Eleftheria is a member of the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and is also a member at the Board of the Cypriot Enterprise Link (CEL), a youth-led organisation promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Cyprus.
