Career
Thordis is a partner at Deloitte Legal having been with Deloitte since January 2018. Prior to joining Deloitte Legal, Thordis was an attorney at Advel Attorneys for seven years, after having been a lawyer at the Iceland Chamber of Commerce since 2009. In parallel with her work at Advel Attorneys, Thordis also had a seat as a board member of one of the life insurance companies in Iceland where she also held the position of the chairman of the board.
Thordis has a wide-ranging experience in matters relating to corporate law throughout various sectors, including fisheries, real estate, retail and financing. Furthermore, Thordis has extensive experience in advisory and services to regulated entities, including banks, securities companies, insurance companies and savings banks, advisory and services to issuers on regulated markets and acquired expertise in corporate and commercial law, M&A and corporate finance. Thordis has led multiple M&A and financing projects in various industries in both domestic and cross-border transactions, e.g. on the largest retail company in Iceland, insurance companies, fishing and fishing service companies, real estate companies, IT providers, and other.
In addition to her law degree, Thordis has also acquired a brokerage license and real estate and ship agent license, along with being a district court attorney. Thordis has also been a public speaker and lecturer within and outside Deloitte Legal. Furthermore, Thordis has been a part-time teacher at the Reykjavik University.
Thordis' practice areas are mainly in the field of M&A, Due Diligence, Mergers, Corporate Reorganizations, Financial Services, Commercial and Corporate Law and Securities Listings.
