Head of Banking and Finance

Miguel is the Head of Banking and Finance and joined CTSU - Sociedade de Advogados, the Deloitte Legal practice in Portugal, in September 2015.

Miguel has been working since 2006 in the Banking and Finance practice area, providing legal assistance on a regular basis to banks, asset managers, investment firms and insurance companies.

Lawyer with large experience in the area of Banking and Finance, providing legal assistance in several regulatory matters, including internal control issues, as well as in legal support to Legal and Compliance functions roll out and advise in digital transformation projects.

He has been actively involved in several regulatory projects concerning the follow up and implementation by clients of new European legislation and regulation (including AIFMD, IDD, MiFid 2 & MiFIR, PSD 2, IV AML Directive, PRIIPS, CRD IV, and GDPR).

Assists in the setting up and registering of investment funds, credit institutions and insurance companies before the competent supervisory authorities in Portugal, advises on financial intermediation activities, including portfolio and fund management, investment advice, brokerage and marketing of banking financial and insurance products and services.

He has also been active in evaluation exercises on estimation of assets recoveries of insolvent or distressed banks, following the application of resolution measures.

Worked previously as in-house lawyer in the legal departments of several credit institutions.
