Career

Hugh Reeves is active in the areas of technology transactions, intellectual property, data law and commercial contracts. He provides expert guidance on complex matters pertaining to technology-centric contracts, the structuring and enforcement of IP portfolios, as well as digitalization, AI and Internet regulations. Hugh assists his clients, across all industries, with their successful entry or expansion in the Swiss market. He regularly speaks and publishes in his fields of expertise and participates in national and international professional organizations.

Prior to joining Walder Wyss, he worked for a boutique law firm in Geneva specializing in banking law and IT law. He also worked for an international auditing company and was a clerk of the Juvenile Court of the Canton of Vaud. In addition, he was a foreign associate in the technology transactions and licensing team of a leading Silicon Valley law firm.

He is registered with the Vaud Bar and admitted to practice throughout Switzerland.

Education

Hugh Reeves was educated at the Universities of Lausanne (BLaw, 2008, magna cum laude; MLaw, 2010, summa cum laude) and Geneva (Ecole d’Avocature – Geneva Bar School, 2011). He furthered his studies with a Certificate in Transnational IP Law and Licensing (Bucerius and UC Hastings, summer 2014) and an LL.M. at the University of California, Berkeley (LL.M., 2016). Hugh was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 2013.
