Guido Vergouwen is a lawyer and partner at AKD who represents larger companies in (inquiry) proceedings and arbitrations. Guido mainly deals with complex disputes such as acquisition claims, disputes relating to discontinue negotiations, disputes between shareholders, the liability of directors and supervisory directors and (international) trade disputes.

Guido has litigated before almost all legal bodies both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Civil Law committee of the district court of East Brabant and also acts as a binding third party ruler and arbitrator.

In his work Guido combines sound legal knowledge with strategic insight and a high degree of empathy. Clients appreciate him for his resolute, personal approach and focus on results.

Guido is a lecturer in corporate law at the Nyenrode Business University. He is also a permanent annotator of Sdu’s Jurisprudence in the Netherlands and co-author of the book 'Guarantees in legal practice' [Garanties in de rechtspraktijk].

Guido’s approach is calm but decisive. If relationships become pressurised and substantial interests are at stake, he knows how to de-escalate and instil confidence. The basis for this is his experience as a negotiator during acquisitions.

Guido is not deterred if consultations grind to a halt. A possible dispute can quickly be prevented by interim injunction proceedings, for example via a court judgement or order.
