Position

Lisette is head of Van Doorne’s Commercial team. She advises and litigates on behalf of domestic and international companies and organisations with regard to all commercial contracts, such as (international) agency, franchise and distribution contracts, (international) sale/purchase agreements (including general conditions, sourcing and framework agreements), services agreements, co-operation agreements and confidentiality agreements. She has specific expertise in commercial litigation (both before Dutch Courts as well as in (international) arbitration), consumer law, liability law and related matters of an international private law nature.

She also advises and litigates in the areas of e-commerce and IT, including outsourcing, software and hardware sales and supply of software licensing and on failed IT projects.

Lisette specialises in contract and liability law (including food and health safety related issues), civil procedural law, international private law and ICT.

Career

She has been a lecturer for NEVI (Netherlands Association for Procurement Management) for more than 10 years. She is a regular editor for Rechtspraak Contractenrecht (Contract Law Case Law ), a monthly publication of Kluwer. She is a member of the International Distribution Institute and the Association for Distribution, Franchise and Agency Law. She is an arbitrator (IDIArb) under the rules of the Swiss Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Commercial contracts and litigation expert Lisette Bieleveld leads the Amsterdam-based retail and consumer goods practice at Van Doorne. Fielding a sizeable team, the practice continues to serve domestic and multinational clients in the retail sector on a wide range of issues from commercial contracts and litigation to ESG, real estate, consumer protection law and competition law. The team has advised high street retailers on distribution, franchise and agency agreements as well as strategic alliances. For fashion and cosmetics clients it assists with e-commerce, commercial and data protection issues. Aiding retail sector clients with leasing and financing outlets and shopping centres and advising supermarket chains and manufacturers on tax issues and investments are also key parts of the practice. Sarah Beeston is noted for her knowledge of competition law matters.

Van Doorne has continued to increase its bench strength in the dispute resolution practice with the hire of Ralph Ubels from NautaDutilh, further bolstering its financial litigation offering. Ubels is noted for working on disputes involving duty of care and financial regulatory issues. The sizeable team handles large commercial litigation, class actions and corporate litigation for domestic and international clients. It often acts in cross-border cases and acts as international co-counsel with overseas law firms on particularly complex disputes. Shareholder disputes before the Enterprise Chamber, and financial, restructuring and insolvency litigation are all notable pillars of the practice. Daan Beenders leads the team from Amsterdam and specialises in liability law, procedural law and class actions. Jasper Leedekerken handles civil liability issues; Sjoerd Kamerbeek is a corporate litigation specialist; and Lisette Bieleveld focuses on contractual litigation.
