Career

With over 20 years experience acting for victims of abuse, Jonathan  is recognised as a national specialist in this area of law, receiving referrals from fellow professionals, charities and instructions from The Official Solicitor.

Jonathan has a national client base, representing clients with claims against social services, historic abuse claims and claims to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority following abuse.   Furthermore, he also represents clients who have been abused at the hands of the Catholic Church, youth organisations and victims of revenge pornography.  He has also been praised for his work in securing substantial damages for the victims of abuse in the Rochdale sex rings, and has advised the BBC with regards to an upcoming drama covering the victims’ true stories of grooming and sexual abuse.

As a specialist in this area, Jonathan is currently assisting with the high profile Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA);  has advised members of the Professional Footballers Association and other  high profile players following the latest football child abuse scandal, and has been asked to speak at various events on the topic, including the Association of Personal Injury Lawyer (APIL) Abuse Special  Interest group.

Jonathan also deals with a small number of high profile Inquests and is currently representing the family of Anthony Grainger, who was shot by an officer of Greater Manchester Police. This is only the second time in England and Wales that a Public Inquiry has been set up to examine a fatal police shooting.

He is regularly asked to contribute to the media and in the last 12 months has been quoted in titles including The Times, The Guardian and The Independent. He has appeared on Sky News, BBC News ITN, Panorama and Granada News.
