Career

Lesley is a consultant partner in Fieldfisher’s property litigation group in London. She has a distinguished 40-year career as an acknowledged leader in the rent review field and is a specialist in contentious property law and practice. Her clients include Nike, RREEF, Imperial College, Nomura, Department for Transport, and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Having begun her legal career with Freshfields, qualifying in 1980, she previously held senior roles in the property litigation departments of Masons (1984-1993), DLA (1993-1997), Beachcroft Wansbroughs (1997-2003) and Reed Smith (2003-2008), before joining Fieldfisher.   Her public service record includes membership of the Government’s Property Advisory Group from 1997 to 2003 and advising on amendments to the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

In 2002, she was awarded an OBE, and in 2007 she received an honorary membership of the RICS, both for services to the property industry. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the first solicitor to be awarded Honorary Membership of Arbrix, the surveyor-arbitrator association.  Chambers and Partners has described her as “exceptionally talented”. She is recognised by clients for being “very well respected within the industry”, and is commended for her hands-on assistance in the settlement of cases.
