Tom is a partner in Fieldfisher's Manchester office and head of the firm's international Venture Capital group and is a tech-focused VC and M&A lawyer.

Tom was ranked in Legal Week's 2019 "40 under 40: The Rising Stars in Private Equity" for his volume of clients and reputation in the venture capital market. He has continued to grow his practice year on year and by end of March 2021, it will have doubled in size (by number of clients) since he was recognised in 2019.

Tom's venture capital deal making is prolific – he was the lead partner on and closed more than 50 venture capital transactions throughout 2020, from early stage deals seed financings through to multi-million Series A and Series B equity rounds.

 These include:

Advising UK fintech Codat on its $10 million VC financing from Index Ventures and its subsequent strategic investment from both Paypal and American Express; Goodlord's £10 million Series B round from Latitude, Finch Capital and Oxx; and Advising EIS fund Fuel Ventures on its participation as lead equity investor in the £49 million seed financing of Heroes Technology, one of the largest seed financings in Europe to date.

 Tom built and leads the firm's relationship with Founders Factory, advising both Founders Factory and a number of companies on the accelerator programme, including this year advising accelerator company Clearglass on its £2.6 million VC financing from Lakestar and Outward VC.
