Career
Thierry was a partner at Loeff Claeys Verbeke for 23 years before, joining Allen & Overy as part of the merger in 2002.
At the beginning of 2010 he then joined Fieldfisher, following in the footsteps of IP lawyers Stijn Debaene and Hakim Haouideg, who had also previously joined from Allen & Overy.
In late 2013, Thierry co-founded an IP litigation boutique firm in Antwerp.
In November 2024, he rejoined Fieldfisher as Of Counsel, reuniting with former colleagues, IP Partners Stijn Debaene and Hakim Haouideg.
Thierry has had the opportunity to work on several significant trademark cases before the CJEU and the Benelux Court of Justice, some of which have contributed to important decisions in trademark law.
For several decades, he has collaborated with some of the most prominent names in the fashion industry and is recognised as the only Belgian lawyer to have received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Leaders European IP Awards.
Chambers & Partners, the WTR 1000 and Legal 500 have quoted him as "the pope of trademark law in Belgium", and “a mastermind in European trademark law”, who “wins praise for his brilliant mind and incredible intellect”.
