Position
Dr Julia Schafdecker is a Senior Associate in the Fieldfisher's Berlin office in and advises on media and entertainment as well as online platforms and digital commerce.
She advises national and international companies in the media and entertainment industry. Her advice covers the entire value chain - from the development and financing of productions to their realisation and production distribution. She has many years of experience in drafting and negotiating contracts. In the area of corporate communications, she advises clients comprehensively, e.g. on the organisation of their advertising campaigns and cooperations as well as their social media presence. In addition to her advice in the field of audiovisual media, she has particular expertise in international music licensing law.
She also specialises in providing technological advice to media groups and online platforms. She supports them in the legal structuring of their digital market presence, the implementation of their business idea and the further development of their business model, e.g. through the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain. A particular focus of her advice is the healthcare sector, especially with regard to the development of new digital markets by healthcare players.
Career
Before joining Fieldfisher, she worked for several years as a lawyer in the media and digital business department of a large medium-sized law firm. Before that, she worked as a research assistant and lecturer in the field of media and technology law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen. She completed her doctorate there on a copyright law topic in the field of international music licensing.

She advises her clients in German and English.
