Career
Marie-Paule Gillen has over 35 years’ experience in the banking industry and is particularly appreciated for her accessibility and regulatory knowledge. She advises on a wide range of financial transactions governed by Luxembourg law, involving Luxembourg and foreign entities or in respect of Luxembourg-based assets, and provides advice to banks and professionals of the financial sector (PSF).
Marie-Paule has extensive experience advising financial institutions and other professionals in the financial sector on all aspects of client contractual relations and documentation, professional liability, criminal financial law liability, corporate governance and personal data protection.
In cooperation with the litigation team, she has broad-based litigation, dispute resolution, and arbitration capabilities in finance-related matters both in Luxembourg and in international venues. This includes providing dispute resolution services to financial sector entities and individual investors with respect to their claims against banks, investment firms or other financial sector professionals. She also assists bankers and financial professionals involved in financial criminal proceedings.
Worked for KBL epb (now Quintet Private Bank) for more than 35 years as Legal Counsel, Director of Legal Affairs, Secretary General and Chief Legal Officer. Joined DSM Avocats à la Cour in 2012 as a partner and has since been head of the Banking & Finance department.
