About

Sagardoy Abogados is a specialized firm fully dedicated to the Labour & Employment Law Practice since 1980.

Practice Areas: Employment law, Labour Law, Immigration, Employee Benefits, Pensions and Social Security. We are based all over Spain with 5 offices.

We provide a wide range of legal services in the area of human resources, both in advisory work and in litigation for corporate clients. Sagardoy Abogados has developed a wide range of legal services in Spain, mainly in litigation but also on restructuring and collective negotiation procedures. Iñigo Sagardoy is the Chairman and Martin Godino is the Managing Partner. Together with other partners, they lead a team of over 90 lawyers across Spain. Sagardoy Abogados also specializes in providing advice on employment and labour law to foreign companies established in Spain.

Its offices in various Spanish cities have allowed it to provide high quality services throughout the country. With the idea of offering clients a global service, and aware of the necessary internationalization of legal services, Sagardoy founded in 2001 the international alliance Ius Laboris, an international association formed by prestigious firms specialized in labour law advice established in more than 50 countries, present in the 5 continents, and with a team of 1500 labour lawyers of recognized prestige. In 2014 Chambers chose it as the most important “elite” alliance in the world in labour and employment law.

A key aspect of the firm is its exclusive focus on employment matters (only for companies) with most of the lawyers cooperating on academic areas (universities and institutions) that gives clients a practical approach to matters but with a continuous and profound update on the current employment trends.

In 2013, we have created the Employment and Labour Relations Institute in order to create a think-tank to promote new changes on the employment legislation as well as to analyse the impact of labour reforms in the labour market and companies.

We are very proud of all our national and international awards and recognitions. Sagardoy has been recognized as best labour firm according to Chambers & Partners 2026, highlighting our Chairman Iñigo Sagardoy and Martín Godino, its Managing Partner, in their different individual categories. Also, we have been awarded in all the 10 editions of the Expansión Awards (organized by the leading Spanish financial newspaper) as "Best Labor Law Firm in Spain", "Top Tier Firm" of Labor Law in Spain of The Legal 500 EMEA 2025, "The Client Choice Awards", "Law Firm of the Year 2025" of the Iberian Lawyer Awards, and awarded in 2023 as the Boutique Law Firm of the Year by the International Employment Lawyer (IEL), among other recognitions.

Iñigo Sagardoy (President) was elected as Eminent practitioner in the Chambers Europe 2026 Guide (only in the labour and employment specialty), featured as “Recommended lawyer” in the 2025 edition of the Legal 500 directory and as “Best Lawyer” in the 2025 edition of the Best Lawyers Guide.

Martín Godino (Managing Partner) was elected as Star Individual in the Chambers Europe 2025 Guide (unique in the specialty of labour and employment and recognized as a Star Individual for the 15th consecutive year). Featured as “Leading Individual” in the 2026 edition of the Legal 500 directory and as “Best Lawyer” in the 2025 edition of the Best Lawyers Guide.

Sagardoy Abogados has always had a strong educational interest and remained closely linked to academia. Almost all the professionals in our firm are also lecturers, and many of them hold PhDs. Both our founding Partner, Juan Antonio Sagardoy, and our current Chairman, Iñigo Sagardoy, hold the Chair of Employment and Social Security Law at two different universities.

Our interest in research took shape with the creation in 2019 of the Sagardoy Business & Law School. The school’s foundations lie on the well-established educational activity of the Sagardoy Study Centre, which has been a constant source of sectoral studies on the latest trends in collective bargaining, barometers and observatories on the labour reform, as well as numerous analyses on specific aspects of employment relations.
