Private Client
Position
I advise on a wide range of private client law matters for individuals, families and trustees with particular emphasis on Inheritance Tax and estate planning for domestic and international high net worth clients.
If I have a USP it is that I try to put myself into my client’s shoes. What do they want, what are they trying to achieve, how do we achieve it? My job is to find answers, not more questions, and to explain them in a straightforward way, to be able to understand the issue as the client sees it.
My experience encompasses trust & estate administration as well as advising on ATED and CGT related issues in relation to property investment and acquisition. I provide a bespoke and holistic service to my clients – often including generations of families, private individuals, trustees and estates.
I love what I do and I hope that passion comes out in my work. I am lucky to be surrounded by like-minded people and Fladgate has the best team around for private client work. Communication is key, both within the team and with the clients.
I advise on the re-structuring of off-shore trusts, including the trusts inheritance tax liabilities, capital gains tax and stamp duty land tax issues. Typical assets include residential and commercial property in a number of jurisdictions, including the UK and the Common Reporting Standard. Advising the Family Office on Estate Planning for future generations and Philanthropic ideas.
When not working I enjoy cycling, sailing and skiing, not all at the same time. As a golf widower I also have time to indulge my passion for building things. One kit car (a bonding exercise with my father – don’t ask), one racing dinghy and a model of HMS Victory.
