JPAB - José Pedro Aguiar-Branco Advogados provided legal advice to Atena Equity Partners on its entry into the share capital of NacionalGest, one of the 15 largest insurance brokers in Portugal.

Atena Equity Partners is a Portuguese private equity firm that has invested in strategic sectors such as industry, business services and health.

Founded in 2001, NacionalGest currently has more than 130 employees, a network of 35 shops and more than 200 agents throughout the country. In the 2024 financial year, the company recorded 7.5 million euros in commissions and managed a portfolio of 80 million euros in insurance premiums.

The JPAB team advising on the Transaction and Legal & Tax Due Diligence was led by Ramiro Matos (Of Counsel for Corporate and M&A) and included Maria João Dias, Marisa Razão and Miguel da Silva Diogo (Corporate and M&A). As part of the Due Diligence, the legal team also included Luísa Campos Ferreira and Ricardo Codeço (Tax), Joana Carneiro and Constança Pimenta (Labour) and Isabel Arantes (Intellectual Property).
