Position

Jackwell Feris is a Director in our Dispute Resolution practice providing dispute resolution, risk advisory and regulatory services in South Africa and various other African jurisdictions. He has particular experience in the following sectors: Arbitrations (both domestic and international); Regulatory and Public Law matters; Mining, Energy and Natural Resources matters and International Investment Law matters.

Career

He is a members of CDH's International Arbitration Sector Group with a special focus on international investment law (and disputes flowing from there). His most recent experience involves advising a number of multi-national corporations on potential breaches of the SADC Protocol on Finance and Investment and related Bilateral Investment Treaties relating to adverse regulatory changes or regulatory measures, including providing risk profiling advise on selected African jurisdictions.   

He is a guest lecturer at the University of Pretoria for the course International Arbitration as part of the LLM in the Extractive Industry Law in Africa, and regular speaker at conferences (ICCA events etc.) and seminars in the mining, energy and natural resources sector with an emphasis on international investment law aspects. Jackwell is also a keen writer on international investment law in the context of treaties and investment disputes in Africa.
