Career

Mira Todorovic Symeonides, LLM, has more than 25 years of experience in Greece and SEE countries, which includes over 20 years experience in the energy sector. Her experience originally relates to the reform of electricity and gas sectors in the SEE countries in regard to liberalisation of electricity and gas markets. Her current practice focuses on electricity, gas and RES energy sectors, and includes regulatory M&As, energy regulatory issues as well as drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts in Greece. She has significant experience in advising clients in energy licensing procedures in Greece both for gas and electricity, including trade, supply and production licenses. Her recent experience includes legal support to the Public Power Corporation (PPC) in unbundling of Transmission System Operator, drafting or amending Electricity and Gas Supply Agreements, advising an alternative electricity supplier on a permanent basis in regard to all legal issues such as to the NOME electricity auctions, protection of electricity consumers before the Consumers’ Counsel, organisation of network of distributors, various regulatory issues, payment delays regarding certain regulatory-imposed charges by grid operators, and protection of trade secrets by grid operators. In regard to RES production, in 2019 she advised several EU based developers in regard to licensing and other procedures for the development of a number of wind farms and PV plants in Greece.  Her recent experience includes two energy study projects for the Energy Community: a) regarding implementation of the national RES plans, and b) public procurement in the energy sector in the eight countries members of the Energy Community. Her recent experience also includes advising the Non Interconnected Islands’ Market Operator (DEDDIE) in regard to two pilot projects aimed to achieve sustainability of small islands by development of hybrid production systems, including wind and solar generators in combination with the storage (battery) unit. A still on-going significant project is the legal support to HARDF in regard to a concession for the development and exploitation of an underground natural gas storage facility in North Greece.

Mira is an editing author of the Rokas Energy Newsflash, which has been issued since June 2013, and covers issues regarding energy markets, electricity, oil and gas, renewables, energy licensing, infrastructure and grids, energy efficiency, nuclear energy and environment in EU, Greece and the SEE countries (http://www.rokas.com/en/press-articles-a-publications/energy-and-environment).
