Mitchell leads the Indirect Tax disputes practice at EY. He has over 20 years’ indirect tax dispute resolution experience in Value Added Tax (VAT) and other indirect taxes with EY, and as a partner at Dorsey & Whitney, at that time one of the leading tax litigation law firms in the UK. Mitchell is a highly experienced tax litigator with knowledge of and experience in the ADR process as well as the First-tier Tribunal (FTT) and the higher courts, including the CJEU. He also has extensive experience of advising clients on all aspects of indirect taxes.

Mitchell’s experience includes successfully representing numerous clients in challenges to decisions of the tax authorities and he has frequently obtained large repayments, together with interest and costs for clients. Mitchell has appeared as an advocate before the FTT on many occasions. Mitchell has strong relationships with all of the leading tax chambers and barristers, built from years of working together to further the position of clients.
