Janis is the head of PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal in Latvia and is also the leader of Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law practice group of PwC Legal in Latvia. 

With his specialization in Commercial Law and Corporate Law Janis has vast experience in helping clients in their day-to-day activities as well as advising on complex projects. 

As an accomplished transaction lawyer, Janis has structured numerous large-scale acquisitions and business sales of various industries, participated in corporate and financial restructuring transactions, asset and real estate purchase and sale transactions. He has also advised clients in corporate takeovers and insolvency matters.

Janis has represented the clients in the local courts and arbitrations, before the European Court of Justice as well as the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission.

Janis has extensive experience acting as mediator and settling complicated disputes before the trial.

Janis is regularly involved in legislative development acting as a member of the working groups of the Ministry of Justice.
