Career
Ilona was part of PwC Legal team in 2008-2015, as Legal Senior Associate, offering legal assistance to incorporations, M&A projects, corporate restructurings, liquidations, contracts' drafting and negotiations, offering legal opinions on various issues, participating in legal due diligences, assisting clients in public tenders. She was also managing various issues in the field of regulatory framework, environmental law, corporate, PPPs, competition and contract law matters, drafting legislative acts analysis and providing recommendations to legal framework amendments.
She re-joined PwC in September 2022, as the Head of the PwC Legal Moldova.
Ilona holds the LLB degree in Business Law at the Moldova State University and LLM degree in International Business Law at Central European University and the Emory University School of Law (Budapest, Hungary). She has broad experience as legal adviser within international organisations such as the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank, United Nations entities.
In 2010-2012, Ilona was the university lecturer in Commercial Arbitration and Civil Procedural Law at the State University of Moldova. During 2015 - 2019 she was managing the Legal Consulting Services department within a reputable local law firm, where her main responsibilities encompassed management of the legal consultancy team, assistance in various transactions’ negotiations, offering consulting on corporate restructuring, M&A, contract law, intellectual property, public acquisitions, concessions, competition law, corporate issues, PPPs, environmental law, legal due diligence, permissive documents/authorisations.
She is highly ranked in Legal500, IFLR1000, Chambers&Partners.
For the last 6 years Ilona gained valuable experience and expertise in regulatory issues, being the Legal consultant to the International Finance Corporation, contributing to the legal reforms implementation (permissive documents reform, state control reform) in Moldova, as well as being the Business Regulation Consultant to the Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister, dealing with various regulatory issues business community was facing with.
