Position

David is a Partner in the Pensions practice with over 18 years of experience advising corporates and trustees on all aspects of pensions law including general ongoing advice, liability management, major benefit redesign projects, and contingent funding arrangements. 

David advises clients on the pensions aspects of corporate transactions, particularly where the transaction involves staff transfer from one group scheme to another.

Examples of David’s experience include:

advising the BBC for over 10 years on the operation of the BBC Pension Scheme, one of the UK’s largest pension funds, and in relation to the DC arrangements operated by the corporation. This case shows how he can help navigate the interplay pensions and employment law whilst factoring in industrial relations issues which can stand up to significant ombudsman and court scrutiny advising British Airways in relation to a contentious matter arising from a potential switch from RPI to CPI for pension increase purposes advising clients in relation to making benefit design changes dealing with funding issues including the use of contingent asset and asset backed funding structures advising on corporate transactions and restructurings, including Pensions Regulator clearance issues and dealing with section 75 debts advising in relation to pension schemes entering the Pension Protection Fund
