Position

Louise Myburgh is a Trade Mark Practitioner and has BEcon (Hons) and LLB degrees. She is an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Louise has over two decades of experience in domestic and international trade mark registration and litigation, searches and renewals, domestic and international copyright, advertising objections, unlawful competition, passing off, company name objections and domain name disputes.

Career

Louise completed her B Econ (Hons) degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 1986 and also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of South Africa. Louise joined Spoor & Fisher in 1994 and was admitted to the partnership in 2001. Prior to joining Spoor & Fisher, Louise was a registrar to Mr Justice Mynhardt in the Supreme Court of South Africa. Louise is a qualified trade mark practitioner and a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law and a member of the Cape Law Society.

Professional activities

Co-author of the SA chapter on International Intellectual Property Law, published by the Centre for International Studies, 2010 - 2014.

Louise has lectured on copyright at the Institute of Intellectual Property Law.

Louise has presented guest lectures for LLM students: Stellenbosch University, 2013-2018.

Co-author on the South African chapter of The Global Legal Post Luxury Law Jurisdictional Comparisons 2016. Speaker at FICPI conference, 2018-2019.
