Career
Simona Lavagnini graduated with honors from the University of Pavia in 1993. There she also completed her PhD in intellectual property law. Following several professional experiences in the field of intellectual property, she became partner and founding member of LGV in 2003. Simona has significant experience with regards to consultancy in both contentious and non-contentious matters in the field of intellectual property and information technology, advising national and international clients. She has recently dealt with some of the Italian leading cases concerning online IP infringements, representing a search engine provider in liability disputes, a media company in ex parte urgent injunction proceedings for the protection of live events, a leading software producer to block online sales of illegal products. She also manages enforcement programs across the national territory on behalf of software owners and their trade associations; advices clients in the field of videogames, and their trade associations; assists companies in the field of music rights, also in relation to exploitation of rights and collecting society. Simona is also particularly experienced in trademarks and designs, representing owners of famous trademarks in various fields (from fashion to sport apparel to automotive). She has recently assisted clients in relation to online/hybrid Fairs – providing advice ranging from the assistance to the creation and streaming of the event to the management of IP protection. She also provides consultancy on various matters, from contracts to privacy, especially in the IT and new technologies sectors (licenses, tenders, maintenance and development); finally, she supports clients in the context of transactions involving corporate proprietors of intangible assets. Since 2011 she teaches copyright law at the University of Pavia.
