Career

Dr. Alexander Ospelt has worked as an independent lawyer since 1997. In 1993, he worked as a staff member at the Permanent Mission of Liechtenstein to the United Nations (UN) in New York. Between 1994 and the founding of his own law firm in 1997 he practised at the Princely Court of Justice in Liechtenstein and at a distinguished law firm in Liechtenstein. From 1987 to 1993 he studied at the Faculty of Law at St. Gallen University in Switzerland. Dr. Alexander Ospelt went on to take a degree in European Law at ULB in Brussels. He passed the Liechtenstein Bar Examination in 1997 and gained a doctorate in law from St. Gallen University, Switzerland in 1999.

Dr. Alexander Ospelt is the author of numerous publications. His dissertation dealt with the free movement of freelancers in the European Economic Area and its impact on Liechtenstein professional law. In practice, he was able to use the knowledge he had acquired in this way and won a case for his client against Liechtenstein concerning the residence requirement.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Dr. Alexander Ospelt was and is a member of various associations and boards of directors. These include 2005-2009 Chairman of the Board of Directors at Liechtensteiner Kraftwerke, 2001-2004 Member of the Board of Directors of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Lawyers. Since 2006 he has been President of the Foundation for Crisis Intervention Liechtenstein KIT, 2007-2017 Member of the Board of Directors at DACH (Association of European Lawyers), 2012-2017 Chairman of Liechtenstein Life Assurance AG. Since 2013 he has been a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Private University of Liechtenstein and since 2016 Chairman of the Liechtenstein Ski Association. Furthermore, he is a member of Lions Club International and has a seat on a number of company boards: since 2009 Member of the Board of Directors of Billington Ltd., since 2016 of Ospelt Holding Anstalt (Malbuner), since 2016 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seed X Liechtenstein AG, since 2017 Member of the Board of Directors of Bergbahnen Malbun AG, since 2017 on the Board of Accuro Ltd., since 2018 Chairman of the Board of Directors of ONE Versicherung AG and since 2019 Member of the Board of Directors of Bank Havilland AG. In 2017 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium.
