Lawyer Rankings
Israel > Dispute resolution > Dispute resolution: class actions (including derivative actions)
Meitar Law Offices possesses ‘the best class actions practice in Israel’, according to some. Frequently engaged to advise on the local leg of global class action cases, the team is currently defending multinational clients in local class actions concerning high-profile issues such as the Dieselgate and Libor scandals. The group additionally stands out for its comprehensive practice coverage, with strong skill sets in the privacy, financial services, product liability and competition areas, and also in high-end derivative lawsuits. Nadav Weisman is recommended for his top-level expertise in complex antitrust and financial services-related class actions and co-heads the litigation department alongside Eyal Rosovsky. Ron Peleg is a ‘go-to lawyer’ for class actions, particularly in the product liability sphere. Also noted are veteran litigator Israel Leshem and the ‘committed’ Ronen Ziv.
Israel > Dispute resolution > Dispute resolution: local litigation and arbitration
(Leading partners)Among the largest dispute resolution groups in Israel, Meitar Law Offices is well placed to handle complex disputes. Additionally, the firm’s strong international credentials — many of its lawyers were trained abroad — ensures it is routinely involved in multi-jurisidictional proceedings. Among its key highlights, Nadav Weisman successfully represented the Israel Bar Association before the Supreme Court in a historic case striking down part of the government’s proposed Constitutional Reform. Weisman co-heads the team together with Eyal Rosovsky, who maintains a balance between commercial and administrative law disputes. Rounding out the senior litigators is dual-qualified (Israel/New York) Israel Leshem, who is sought after for international work. Also noted are corporate litigator Or Baron Gil; Liran Bar-Shalom, who specialises in finance services-related cases; Ron Peleg, who focuses on class actions and product liability; and ‘strategic thinker’ Ali Bursztyn.
Israel > Dispute resolution > Dispute resolution: white-collar crime, investigation and fraud
The white-collar crime law practice at Meitar Law Offices is ‘highly skilled in handling complex, sensitive cases’, according to some. Particularly sought after by senior political, business and military figures, the group undertakes work across a wide range of criminal defence matters, including cases regarding corporate fraud, bribery, securities offences and antitrust violations. Yuval Sasson heads the team and brings to bear significant hands-on experience gained during his former role as a Deputy to Israel’s State Attorney. Other key contacts include Eyal Rosovsky, Nadav Weisman and Eithan Kidron — all frequently handle high-stakes criminal and white-collar litigation.
Israel > Dispute resolution > Dispute resolution: mediation and international arbitration
Meitar Law Offices’ close relationships with major multinational companies mark it as a popular choice to represent foreign corporations on international arbitration cases with an Israel dimension. The team, which also acts for domestic clients, brings to bear an impressive track record in advising on disputes seated in Paris, London, Geneva and New York, while it also handles international arbitrations before local arbitral institutions. Or Baron Gil is a ‘shrewd litigator’ and has experience under all major arbitral rules, including AAA, ICDR and ICC. Also recommended are Israel Leshem, who ‘gets to the nub of matters quickly’; Eyal Rosovsky, who recently advised a European client on a high-value ad-hoc international arbitration proceeding; and Asaf Niemoj, who specialises in international arbitration and cross-border disputes.
