Position
Gil Brandes is a highly experienced lawyer specializing in growth companies in Israel. With a career spanning three decades, he has played a crucial role in assisting clients from the concept stage to becoming large-scale public companies or completing successful exit transactions. Gil is particularly skilled in advising high-tech companies, including those in the life sciences field, on various aspects of their daily business operations. Additionally, he has extensive experience in complex litigation matters.
Gil has worked with notable clients in their early stages, such as LanOptics (later renamed EZChip, which was sold to Mellanox Technologies) and Imperva. He provided comprehensive advice from inception to acquisition for companies like Provigent (acquired by Broadcom for US$335 million), Whale Communications (sold to Microsoft Corporation for US$75 million), and Goldman Sachs in its advisory role for the US$537 million sale of Precise to Veritas Software. Gil also assisted Canadian company Blackberry in acquiring WatchDox, Sansa Security in its sale to ARM for US$75 million, and Swiss conglomerate SICPA in acquiring specific assets from Canadian Eurocontrol.
Recognized by Chambers and The Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in the hi-tech practice, Gil’s firm is highly recommended for its valuable service and knowledgeable lawyers. Before joining the firm, he completed his internship at the Tel-Aviv law firm of Yigal Arnon & Co. and worked at the New York offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
Beyond his legal work, Gil is an avid and experienced collector of contemporary art and the founder of Art Partners, an investment firm specializing in post-war and contemporary art. He authored the Israeli chapter of the “Art Collecting Legal Handbook” published by Thomson Reuters in 2013. Gil co-chairs the “Here and Now Acquisition Group,” which supports the Israeli art collection at the Israel Museum. He serves as a member of the Bezalel Academy’s Board of Trustees and is a board member of 8200 EISP, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Support Program, initiated by his firm and several partners.
