Position
Gil Atar is Head of Tort & Insurance Litigation and Sports Law practices at Naschitz Brandes Amir. With extensive experience in insurance and tort claims, Gil has successfully handled some of Israel's largest and most complex cases, including property damages, personal injury claims, and professional negligence claims. He is highly regarded in the field and recognized as a Leading Individual in Insurance Law by The Legal500.
Gil represents insurance companies in Israel and worldwide, providing litigation advice for cases in various jurisdictions, including the US, UK, Australia, Russia, Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands. He also advises commercial companies on tort and insurance claims.
Notable accomplishments include successfully managing the largest toxic tort case in Israeli history, handling claims related to major incidents such as floods, fires, and accidents, and dealing with multinational product liability claims like silicosis and asbestos claims.
Additionally, Gil has significant experience in sports law. He serves as an arbitrator in the prestigious Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland and acts as a legal advisor to the Olympic Committee of Israel and other sports organizations.
Gil is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and is often asked to comment on the subjects of torts, insurance, and sports law in the press. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer on insurance and tort law at the College of Management Academic Studies.
Before joining Naschitz Brandes Amir, Gil worked for six years in the Claims and Insurance department of the Ministry of Defense. During this time, he also represented the Israeli Government's Attorney General in claims involving the State of Israel.
