Trevor Asserson is the Senior Partner and Founder of Asserson and heads the Dispute Resolution team

Career

Trevor has been recognised for many years as one of the UK’s leading litigation lawyers. Chambers and Legal 500 refer to him as a “brilliant litigator” having a “heavyweight reputation”; being “innovative” and “able to find creative solutions”, and “a leader in his field”. He has been shortlisted as Litigator of the Year and highly ranked in the international directories for almost two decades, most recently top tier for international litigation EMEA.

Trevor has a wide range of commercial litigation experience but specialises in complex cases which are often multi-jurisdictional. He has a powerful reputation for taking on establishment institutions including successful claims against sovereign states. His clients include major banks including HSBC, JP Morgan Chase and CSFB; multi-national corporations including some of the world’s largest telecoms companies; sovereign states including the UK government and Ministry of Defence; public bodies such as the Football Association, and high net worth individuals including Boxing promoter Don King, Sonja Kohn, the principal defendant in the largest Madoff claim to come to trial in the UK and a number of high net worth individuals including household names in the UK, Israel and Russia.

Trevor has run a number of public interest claims on behalf of various causes and founded bbcwatch which analyses BBC media coverage of the Middle East.

Prior to establishing Asserson, Trevor worked at Herbert Smith, Europe’s leading litigation firm, and subsequently as Global Head of International Litigation at Bird & Bird, one of Europe’s largest multi-national firms with a premier reputation for IP, Telecoms, and IT law.

Education

Trevor was educated at University College School and at Oxford University, where he received an open scholarship. He qualified as a UK solicitor in 1984 and was called to the Israeli Bar in 1992 after training with Herzog Fox and Neeman. Trevor has higher advocacy rights, allowing him to appear before courts in the UK, and is also a qualified mediator.
