Arbitration/Dispute resolution
Position
Maria is an attorney at law and of counser at GESSEL. For over 10 years, advised business enterprises on avoiding and resolving disputes, both before the general courts and via alternative dispute resolution channels, including arbitration and mediation.
Career
Maria has many years of experience in litigation in court, arbitration and post-arbitration cases. A special place in her experience is occupied by corporate disputes – she assists company owners and managers in situations where, due to a difference of opinion, vision or strategy, it is necessary to take steps to secure the interests of the company or its shareholders, and when the conflict begins to escalate she represents clients in court and arbitration proceedings. Her expert knowledge and experience gained in dozens of proceedings leave her well-placed to devise litigation strategy and formulate conflict resolution scenarios, as well as to manage legal projects. She is the author of publications on litigation and arbitration law and a speaker at conferences on dispute resolution issues. She is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration for 2023-2026.
Maria conducts training courses for entrepreneurs, for trainee attorneys and students and, generally, contributes generously to initiatives supporting the legal education of young lawyers. Over 2012-2022, she coordinated preparations of the Lewiatan Arbitration Competition – the largest moot court competition in Poland for legal trainees organized by the Lewiatan Arbitration Court. She is also a Lead Mentor in the Women in Law Foundation’s Mentoring Program.
Maria’s track record in pro bono work is at least as impressive. She has longstanding relationships with the Rodzić po Ludzku Foundation which aims to raise the standards of perinatal care in Poland and the Po Drugie Foundation dealing with young people in crisis of homelessness and the We are Hope Association (formerly Doctors of Hope).
