Career

Founding partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados, Rafael Mateu de Ros specializes in the areas of commercial law, corporate governance, national and international tax law, litigation and arbitration. State Attorney, currently on leave, as such has always been closely linked to the Ministry of Finance. Subsequently he orientated his professional practice towards the private sector as Secretary of the Board of Directors and Chief of the law counsel of several companies. From 1986 to 2009, he has been Secretary Chief and of the Board of Directors of Bankinter SA, currently holding the post of Director-Secretary. He is also Chief Patron of other companies and foundations linked to the group. Arbitror, among others, of CIMA, has also participated as an “Ad hoc” Arbitror in different, national and international, arbitral procedures. Also author of numerous monographs and publications in various law journals and Professor of Corporate Governance at the Institute of Business and ICADE visiting professor, among others.

Corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Case Law and Legislation (Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación). Member of the Association of Government Lawyers. Member of Collection Legal, PAIAM and ADA, associations of art law specialists. Member of the Association 9915 of Collectors of Contemporary Art (Asociación 9915 de Coleccionistas de Arte Contemporáneo).

Degree in Law, with Special Recognition Award, from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. PhD in Law from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. PhD in Law from the Universidad de Alcala (summa cum laude). PMD  Harvard Business School. Government Lawyer (Abogado del Estado) currently on leave.

Teaching: Professor of Art Law at the IE Law School and at other academic institutions.
