Nils T. F. Schmid completed his mechanical engineering studies at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with a focus on materials science and technical mechanics. He furthermore received a master's degree (DEA) from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Metiers (ENSAM) in Paris in the field of development and conception of novel product categories.
