Employment law with a sharp, results-driven focus
Employment law issues inhabit a world where emotive personal situations and commercial reality collide, governed by an ever-changing, often complex and sometimes contradictory set of legal rules. There is rarely a single right answer, and finding the solution requires a balancing act taking in cost, risk and legal possibilities. Keith starts by identifying the result his client wants to achieve, adds a dash of realism to those expectations, if required, and then applies over 20 years of experience to navigate the best path to that outcome.
Keith has been with Greenwoods since 2000, when he commenced his training with the firm, and has focussed exclusively on employment law since 2001. Prior to embarking upon his career with us he trained as an accountant at a top 10 national firm, and retains a firm grasp of the numbers, as well as the law, in any scenario.
Keith has a huge range of experience in advising on all types of employment matters, and has particular expertise in managing performance, disciplinary, redundancy and grievance situations that are complicated by discrimination issues and/or the seniority of the individuals involved. Where these matters end up progressing to employment tribunal, Keith’s expertise extends to managing the tribunal process either to final hearing, or to a negotiated settlement.
In addition, Keith works closely with our Corporate and Commercial team, and leads on the employment aspects of major corporate deals, sometimes involving the transfer of hundreds or thousands of employees.
Enjoying working for a diverse client portfolio, Keith has significant experience within the construction sector, acting for major household name and regional companies; advises educational establishments, both private and academy; works with a number of businesses in the manufacturing and food/catering sectors ranging from listed multi-nationals to substantial owner managed undertakings; and supports colleagues in relation to the most difficult technical and practical issues on the full range of work undertaken by the employment team.
Keith keeps his knowledge fresh. He is a regular speaker at external and client training events, both online and in person, and oversees the team’s training and online update services.
