Career

Pascual Sala Sánchez is a specialist in Administrative Law. He became an Administrative Law Judge after sitting for an official exam in 1972. In June 1982, he was appointed Counselor of the Court of Auditors, where he acted as President of its Prosecution Section. He was elected Supreme Court Justice for the Administrative Law Division of said court during his rotation of judges specializing in said jurisdiction. He is a Permanent Member of the General Legislation Commission. He was elected President of the Court of Auditors in 1988, and later elected President of the Supreme Court and of the General Council of the Judiciary. He held this position until the completion of his legal term of office in July 1996, when he returned to his position as Supreme Court Justice, presiding over Section 2 (Tax Law) of the Third Division. Elected Constitutional Court Judge of the General Council of the Judiciary and, later, President of the Constitutional Court.

He received the Medal of the Order of Constitutional Merit and the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort and Gran Cruz de la Real y Distinguida Orden de Carlos III. He has received many awards and has been named honorary member of several Lawyers’ Associations and various media outlets, and he was awarded the honorary degree of “Doctor honoris causa” by the University of Valencia.
