Career

Xavier Foz Giralt leads the RocaJunyent’s Banking and Financial Law area in Barcelona and the firm’s Fintech and Blockchain Group, being one of the pioneering lawyers in Spain specializing in these sectors.

He accompanies national and international technological innovation companies in the financial sector of the different verticals throughout their cycle: from the initial regulatory validation of the business model, through the processing of obtaining any authorizations or registrations with the Bank of Spain and the CNMV and even adaptation to new regulatory developments. Based on the knowledge he has of the sector, his value proposition is based on guiding the client in an agile and practical way, providing them with the legal keys to take into account in their business decisions.

Likewise, he has experience in advising on investment rounds and shareholders’ agreements, as well as on acquisition operations and due diligence processes of fintech companies.

Xavier has been recognised as a leading lawyer in his field by renowned international directories, such as Chambers & Partners in its Fintech Edition (2021), Legal 500 (Banking and Finance – Spain 2021), Leaders League (Banking & Finance – Advisory and Project Finance- Spain 2021; and Private Equity - Venture Capital Transactions – Spain 2021).

He is a regular speaker at industry conferences on financial topics and works closely with the startup community, venture capitalists and accelerators within the fintech ecosystem. A client notes, “He invests in the learning curve”, which makes him an attorney of choice for cutting-edge businesses.

Foz is also the secretary of the Board of Directors of several companies and of the Board of Directors of the Alastria blockchain consortium.

Before joining RocaJunyent, he worked as a lawyer in the Commercial Law Department of Uría Menéndez.
