Career

The key areas of my expertise are insurance, banking and finance, capital markets and investment funds. Having practiced law since 2008, I have helped clients in regulatory matters, transactions and product development.

Assisting insurers. I have advised insurers in product development or adapting insurance products for the Latvian market. Additionally, I have assisted foreign insurers in claims handling, including development of claims handling strategies and representation in court.

Daily support to financial market. I offer daily consultations for financial market players. This signifies a wide spectrum of client work, including advising lenders on issuing loans, structuring security interests and complex regulatory advice.

Project manager skills. I have experience in managing Latvian and pan-Baltic teams in complex and challenging client assignments. I love these projects, as they give an opportunity to test one’s limits and think outside the box.

Knowledge in M&A. I have advised clients in M&A transactions on insurance and banking regulatory matters, including assisting during the legal due diligence process. As a result, I have developed experience with bank business sales and loan portfolio sales.

Drafting legislation. During my career I have advised the Latvian Insurance Association on drafting the insurance contract law and the Latvian Venture Capital Association in liaising with state institutions during implementation of the AIFMD (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive), and have also been involved in developing and implementing covered bond regulation in Latvia.
