Career

Elif GIRGIN provides legal consultancy services on Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Dispute Resolution Methods to our local and international clients operating in different sectors.

She advises local and international clients on Insurance and Reinsurance Law in various matters including:

Monitoring regulatory amendments in insurance legislation and compliance with the legislation Compensation for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages in disputes arising from insurance agreements Follow-up and execution of insurance and subrogation cases

She also provides legal consultancy services on Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, Negotiable Instruments Law, Labor Law and represents our clients in disputes before local courts.

She started her education at Marmara University Faculty of Law and graduated in 2018. During undergraduate education, she actively served as a member of the board of directors, chairman of the supervisory board and project coordinator in both clubs and associations within the university and in a number of organizations and communities. Following her graduation, she obtained a German language proficiency certificate as a result of the language training she received in Germany.

In May 2021, she completed her master’s degree in German Law at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. In order to gain an in-depth understanding of German law, she took courses in Civil Procedure Law and Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law as well as Law of Obligations, Constitutional Law and Criminal Law. With her thesis titled “Residual Debt Discharge and Debt Relief Options under German, Swiss and Turkish Law” (Restschuldbefreiung und Entschuldungsmöglichkeiten im deutschen, schweizerischen und türkischen Recht), she comparatively examined the possibility of debt relief for non- individuals in German and Swiss law from the perspective of Turkish law in order to provide a solution to the economic and social problems arising from the fact that consumers are not included among the persons subject to bankruptcy under Turkish law.

In May 2021, upon her return to Turkey, she started her legal internship and obtained her bar admission in May 2022. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in Private Law (30% German) at the Turkish German University.
