AVELLUM'S COMPETITION PRACTICE WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IN GCR 100 RANKING
AVELLUM was ranked as a Highly recommended firm in the 2022 edition of Global Competition Review 100 (GCR 100), a comprehensive listing of the world’s best competition practices.
The GCR 100 says: “Managing partner Mykola Stetsenko co-heads the competition team at AVELLUM alongside counsel Mykyta Nota, who rejoined the firm in August 2020 after a stint at Kinstellar. Partner Yuriy Nechayev and a trio of associates round out the practice, which makes its debut in this year’s rankings.”
The ranking honoured AVELLUM for its exceptional work on both merger control and dispute resolution matters, including helping British American Tobacco convince the Commercial Court to revoke the authority’s 448 million hryvnia (€14.5 million) fine for alleged conspiracy with rival tobacco companies, acting for LVN on its acquisition of the previously state-owned liquor Ukrspyrt facility and also obtaining clearance in February 2021 for supermarket chain Furshet on its sale to Fozzy Group. Meanwhile, MHP tapped Avellum on its acquisition of Braintree Meats, which required clearance in the UK, Germany, Ireland and Ukraine before closing in March 2021.
In August 2020, Mykyta Nota rejoined AVELLUM’s Competition practice as a Counsel focusing on competition & antitrust, arbitration and cross-border litigation. With Mykyta’s arrival, both the Competition practice and the team’s expertise were strengthened significantly. Mykyta has been promoted to Partner from 1 January 2022.
AVELLUM provide the entire spectrum of legal services that cover every aspect of Ukrainian competition law: merger control & concerted practices, cartels and market investigations, antitrust litigation, state aid and general competition advice covering, inter alia, monopolisation and abuse of dominant position, unfair competition, compliance programs, public procurement.
GCR 100 is a comprehensive, independent assessment of the world’s top antitrust and competition practices. The survey provides a qualitative analysis of antitrust groups in jurisdictions worldwide.
