NATALIJA PERIĆ, PARTNER, MAMIĆ PERIĆ REBERSKI RIMAC Law Firm llc.

What do you see as the main points that differentiate MPRR from your competitors?

Our clients are looking for their external law firms to provide innovative solutions to their strategic priorities — as well as to help them to anticipate challenges and reduce risk. Most of our clients businesses have been affected by the pandemic and most of them are also facing huge regulatory requirements. We are focused to provide our clients with, not just legal, but also strategic advising which is very important in uncertain market environment. The main advantage of our law firm is our proactive approach in which we are trying to anticipate even future risks. We have with our clients' partnership relationships and we are assisting them in process of developing mechanisms to control, monitor, and assess their daily business operations. We are focused on fast, efficient solutions which are in long term providing our clients best services and at same time is demonstrating higher levels of efficiency and offer more innovative processes around pricing and delivery.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

Although after turbulent couple of years during COVID-19 situation we expected market stability which would lead to new investments and projects in M&A sector especially in tourism that has a lot of potential in Croatia I think that because of current geopolitical situation the priorities would be changed. I am expecting growing of the transactions related to the energy sector as the energy independency is one of the most important factor for market stability. Furthermore the transition of our country to the euro zone in 2023 will have an impact for the financial sector and therefore it would cause additional regulatory adjustments which will have impact to our clients business.

What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients?

For over a decade now we are thriving to improve in every possible aspect and to achieve the highest level of expertise in the fields of Law in which we are specialized. As a law firm we are committed to invest in development of professional skills of our attorneys at law and trainees in order to offer the clients the best legal services. Since the marketplace for legal services is becoming increasingly competitive we are as the law firm are trying to enhance the client experience by introducing alternative fee arrangements and value-added services, as well as other activities which are including clients’ expectations. We are working together with our clients in process of developing strategies directed to their specific needs and objectives. This begins with communication technologies that allow us to accommodate our clients’ platforms and facilitate more convenient client interactions.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

It is apparent that technology is constantly changing the way we interact with our clients, particularly in the last two years or during the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering that we are providing legal services to clients who have its registered seat outside the borders of the Republic of Croatia, we were faced with the challenges of how to maintain the dynamics of communication at a time when it was not possible to hold meetings in person due to quarantine. This said we were forced to adapt new technologies and develop virtual ways of interacting with our clients which are now accepted and still in use with majority of clients.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

The geopolitical turmoil with the war in Ukraine is affecting overall business and therefore is requiring us to assist our clients in process of adapting to such changes in very short time period. Some of them are trying to fulfil their obligations from previously executed agreement, but because of lack of supplies, significant increase of the price of all goods they are even considering termination of the agreements. As we are business oriented law office we are trying to assist our clients in process of negotiation with other parties helping them to find solution that will be satisfied for both parties as the termination of the agreement should be the last solution which will probably cause litigation procedure which in general take more than 5 years for final resolution of dispute.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms - where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

I do believe that clients are looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms and with the capacity of our legal team, we are capable to fulfil the needs and expectations of our clients and provide them with requested legal support in "tailor-made" way. The main goal for our Law Firm remains the same through the years, and the goal is to continue our professional growth by remaining authentic to our work ethic and principles by providing high-quality legal services to business entities all over the world.
