Career

Jean-Guy de Ruffray, Partner and member of the Paris bar focuses his activities on intellectual property and IT law, both as an advisor and a litigator.

He notably advises his clients in patent, trademark, and copyright law, as well as in data protection law, digital law, and all contracts related to digital transformation (websites, mobile apps, IoT, SaaS agreements, database and software licensing, etc.) and e-commerce, all with a strong international dimension, and with a particular focus on innovation. He works for clients in various sectors of activities, and notably in the real estate/construction, digital, entertainment, and retail sectors.

Jean-Guy de Ruffray has taught within the certificate of specialization in intellectual property and new technologies and lectured on the themes "international aspects of intellectual property", “arbitration and intellectual property”, “cybersecurity” and “GDPR” with the Development Institute International and the DJCE (at Montpellier University, see https://djce.fr/).

He joined Altana at its creation in 2009 and began his career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. He is a member of INTA (International Trademark Association) and of the APRAM (Association des praticiens en droit des marques et des modèles).
