Career

Firm co-founding partner Katarzyna Petruczenko maintains a wide commercial dispute resolution practice, with expertise in handling complex, high-profile litigation and arbitration mandates, often with cross-border elements. She represents clients in institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings from a variety of sectors, such as insurance, design engineering and cleanroom construction.

Katarzyna leads the department’s insurance disputes practice and the firm’s Asian Desk. She has amassed experience that is unique in the Polish market in serving clients from East Asia (China, South Korea). As an advisor to foreign insurance firms, she has provided support related to the management of claims worth a total of more than PLN 1.5 bn. She is also representing one of the leading banks on the Polish market in numerous disputes relating to outsourcing, PSD2, AML, cybercrimes and phishing, as well as in disputes with the CHF loan holders. Highlights from Katarzyna’s recent work include leading the team’s representation of Webuild s.p.a. in a successfully settled dispute with its subcontractor in connection with the construction of one of the major roads in Poland (a challenging section of road, from an engineering point of view involving a bridge pass over Gorce mountains on the road to Tatra mountains and its ski resorts; and successfully pursuing a EUR 8 mln claim of a group of Irish investors against a well-known on the Polish market Irish promotor of real estate investments into Polish assets. Katarzyna also advises an international corporation that specialises in innovative solutions for the medical, pharmaceutical and technological sectors on projects in Poland, including on disputes concerning implementation of investments.

She is the author of numerous publications and articles, in Poland and abroad, on trial and arbitration issues, including reports for Global Arbitration Review on dispute resolution and arbitration in Poland, and works on competition, bankruptcy and banking law. She has been practising since 2005. Before Rö was established, Katarzyna worked in one of Poland’s largest law firms, and earlier in a leading American firm. The Legal 500 EMEA 2021 recommends Katarzyna in the field of dispute resolution as “an excellent lawyer in the field of dispute resolution and cross-border matters.”
