Career

Daniël specializes in employment law and employee benefits in the broadest sense. He supports national and international companies, employees and co-determination bodies in resolving complex employment law matters such as individual and collective dismissals, co-determination, transfer of undertaking (TUPE) and remuneration. Daniël has extensive experienced in advising and litigating on the appointment and dismissal of statutory directors and other governance issues in mergers and acquisitions.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Daniël is affiliated with Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he is responsible as a lecturer for the Dismissal Law course in the Master's in Employment Law. In addition to academic education, Daniël also provides post-academic education at various specialization courses for employment law lawyers (including the PALA) and he regularly gives lectures and courses on various employment law topics.

Education

Daniël completed his master's degree in Employment Law at Erasmus University in 2011, cum laude. During his studies he worked in the port of Rotterdam at ECT Delta Terminal, but after graduating he started working as a lawyer at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam. He worked as an in-house Senior Legal Counsel at Just Eat Takeaway.com N.V. for a short period on secondment basis.

Daniël completed the postgraduate course in employment law (PALA) cum laude in 2017 and he also studied at the London Business School (2018). Since 2017 he also holds various positions as a lecturer (at Erasmus University, PALA, Institute for Employment Law and PO-Online) and he is (co-)author of several standard works and contributions to the literature. Daniel has been a partner at Ploum since 2023.
