Career
Robert Klenka is a partner at BBH. His primary focus is on issues of civil law litigation and he specializes and has acquired invaluable experience in representing and standing proxy for clients in significant trade disputes held before general courts of law and in arbitration and insolvency proceedings. Among a number of judicial and arbitration proceedings Mr. Klenka has participated in, he played a significant role in successfully representing a company doing business in the oil and gas production field. The value of the dispute in question amounted to billions of Czech crowns. In another arbitration proceeding held on the price of an acquisition transaction, he successfully defended the interests of a world-renowned publishing house. Most recently, Mr. Klenka participated in the successful enforcement of penalty claims in an arbitration proceeding held in Vienna. These penalty claims originated from a breach of contractual obligations regulating the investment policy of and co-operation of shareholders within one of the most significant heavy machinery groups in the Czech Republic and amounted to tens of millions of Czech crowns. Robert is also actively involved in the preparatory work for the legal restructuring of companies and the implementation thereof. In cooperation with the partners of the law office, he took part in the securing and protection of investments of one of the most prominent Czech companies. Due to the nature of his practice, Robert’s specialization is very broad and also encompasses, among other things insolvency and labour law. Currently, Robert is the team leader representing the bondholders, the largest creditor, in the insolvency proceedings against SAZKA a.s. in the largest-ever bankruptcy proceedings in the Czech Republic, as well as in the insolvency proceedings against BESTSPORT, the owner of the Prague O2 Arena that was formerly within the SAZKA a.s. holdings. In the area of labor law, Robert has represented many clients, both employers and employees, in the preparation and negotiation of labor contracts, their assessment and the application of the rights of his clients in judicial proceedings.
