Associate Lawyer and Chartered Legal Executive in the Family Department

Laura is a specialist family lawyer based in our Torquay office. She joined the firm in July 2024 from a highly regarded national specialist family law firm.

Laura has been solely practising family law since 2011. She specialises predominantly in financial matters connected with relationships, for both married and unmarried couples. Such matters include assisting with the negotiation or formalisation of finances during a relationship or pre-marriage, as well as assisting with the division or management of finances following separation or upon the breakdown of a marriage.   In addition to advising on financial matters, she also assists clients in relation to children matters and injunctions.

Laura attends Court and advocate meetings as required and have excellent working relationships with both local and national barristers and other professionals. Laura is very mindful that all aspects of family law and relationship breakdown can be very emotional for those involved and appreciate the common need to help ensure clients and their families remain as emotionally and financially intact as possible following separation. She aims to resolve disputes as quickly as possible and adopt a constructive and practical approach where at all possible, in line with the Family Law Protocol as set out by Resolution which encourages disputes to be resolved in a constructive and non-confrontational manner. She will however adopt a robust approach where necessary to do so with the best interest of her client and their family dynamics in mind.

Financial negotiations for;

Cohabitation Agreements, also known as Living Together Agreements Separation Agreements Pre or Post-Marital Agreements Consent Orders upon divorce

Financial negotiations in relation to;

Property Division of Pensions (including NHS, Police and Armed Forces Pensions) Farming disputes Business Assets Intervenor applications (introducing third parties into proceedings where they have an interest in the assets in dispute)

Advising in relation to Children Disputes, to include;

Advising in relation to Domestic Abuse, to include;

 Non-Molestation Orders (prohibiting harm against a person) Occupation Orders (Regulating the occupation of a property, usually the family home)

Outside of the office Laura like to spend time with family and friends, enjoying the wealth of activities the South West has to offer.
