Career

Amelia is a Solicitor in the family team. She deals primarily with private legal matters such as divorce, finances, and children disputes.

She first started studying law at A-Level in 2013. Amelia then attended Plymouth University from 2015 to 2018 and graduated with an upper second-class honour in Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies. She then went on to study the Legal Practice Course alongside a Masters in law at the University in Law in Bristol from 2018 to 2019.

After completing the Legal Practice Course, she worked at local law firms between 2019 and 2021, both within the family team, joining Wollens in July 2021. Amelia started her training contract (two years of work-based qualifications) in October 2022 and completed this to become fully qualified in October 2024.

She has, therefore, studied law for over 10 years and practised for 5 years. Amelia has gained a vast amount of experience during this time. Below are some examples of the work she has carried out:

Assisting a client in a complex divorce whereby the husband lived in America and would not respond to the divorce paperwork. Representing a client throughout children proceedings whereby they could not agree on who the children live with and how often they spend time with the other parent and extended family. Advising a client on their options when they were faced with their ex-partner not agreeing for them to take their child on holiday. Representing a client throughout court proceedings whereby there had been high levels of domestic violence throughout their relationship. Drafting Consent Orders to reflect the parties not having a right to make any future financial claims against each other upon divorce. Representing a client throughout children proceedings whereby the father had been previously accused of harming their child and then made an application for contact. Advising a client who was being prohibited by their ex-partner from having any contact with their child. Representing a client throughout children proceedings who had been convicted of a serious sexual offence and wanted contact with their children. Representing a client throughout children proceedings whereby they wanted contact with their newborn baby. Representing a client who had been in and out of children proceedings for years with another solicitor.

Leisure

Outside of work, Amelia enjoys going for a walk on the beach with her dog, spending time with family and friends and travelling the world.
