Career

Plamen led the work for numerous multinational groups on their Bulgarian projects and cases, which include, among others, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and finance projects. He further acted in various disputes, including litigation before civil and administrative courts as well as international arbitration cases under both ICC and UNCITRAL rules. Plamen was appointed Partner and Director for Bulgaria in November 2012. Since October 2018, he is also the Leader of the General Commercial and Distribution practice at PETERKA & PARTNERS. Plamen is also leading the work within PETERKA & PARTNERS on sanctions related matters. Such advisory work includes various assignments for clients with respect to the application of the EU sanctions against Russia, in particular after the invasion in 2022, related to payments, contractual relations, circumvention issues etc. Plamen is also actively involved in the internal compliance procedures of PETERKA & PARTNERS concerning the application of the sanctions rules. Before joining the firm, Plamen worked for more than five years in the Bulgarian Competition Protection Commission where, among others, he had responsibilities related to the modernization of national competition law and various EU-related activities. Plamen is a contributing author to the book Statute of Limitations in International Commercial Claims published by Carswell, a division of Thomson Reuters Canada Limited.
