Career

Rosita specialises in transportation law, all aspects of dry shipping, aviation, insurance, international trade and personal injury law and has over 20 years experience in them. She has been repeatedly voted by clients and commentaries as a leading lawyer.

She studied law in England and holds a Master of Law Degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science of the University of London with a Mark of Merits. She is admitted to practise in four jurisdictions, namely, England and Wales, Australia ACT, Singapore and Hong Kong.

ShippingRosita handles all types of charterparties and cargo carriage disputes. She acts for shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs, ports and terminal operators, freight forwarders, cargo interest and logistics operators.

Rosita is a LMAA Support Member and frequently advises the Hong Kong Government on shipping matters. Reported shipping cases include the Fan Yun 203 (a Hong Kong High Court (Admiralty Court) case) which remains the authority on identification of Mainland China beneficial but not registered shipowners.

She is popular among major metals and cement traders and represents clients in trade arbitrations including ICC and CIETAC arbitrations.

Insurance

Rosita represents leading P&I Clubs and many domestic and international insurance companies. She advises on insurance policies, drafting and insurance coverage disputes.

Rosita is one of the leading solicitors in Hong Kong for insurance regulatory work and has handled a large number of P&I Clubs', maritime insurers’ and brokers’ applications for authorisation and license to operate in Hong Kong.

Rosita has been for twelve consecutive years since 2004 till present ranked as a “World Leading Expert Lawyer in Insurance and Reinsurance" in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s international survey. Commercial Disputes

Rosita has extensive experience in Hong Kong and London arbitrations and litigations, in particular for claims arising from non-performance of contracts, misrepresentation, heavy machinery and container terminal casualties. She advises and handles cases for most of the container terminal operators in Hong Kong.

She is recommended by Asia Pacific Legal 500 as having “considerable contentious expertise” in commercial, personal injury, commodity and trade disputes, in addition to shipping and insurance disputes.

Rosita has succeeded in defending many terminal owners and operators in criminal charges for unsafe operation and in civil claims for negligence. She works with overseas lawyers in international commercial disputes.

Aviation & travel

Rosita is the lead partner in Hong Kong for aviation matters. She is one of the very few panel lawyers of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, and has been acting and advising them on both contentious and non-contentious matters involving the airport, planes, property damage, contracts, torts, and personal injuries. She also acts for insurers in aviation cargo claims. She regularly advises them on matters that involve complex legal issues, multijurisdictional claims/proceedings and invariably regulatory, contract and civil matters. Rosita has many years of litigation, arbitration and mediation experience in the aviation sector.
